What is Ringette?

Can my child join after the season starts?
Yes! We are always looking for more players. Contact the registrar by email registration@burlingtonringette.com for current team availability.
Is Ringette just for girls?
No! Boys are welcome to play ringette as well.
How much does it cost to play Ringette?

What is a Ringette season like?
Generally the season runs from the first week of October until the end of march. Depending on the on age level and division, teams typically practice once during the week and have 1-2 games each weekend. Teams may also participate in tournaments.
How do I know which team/level to register my child?
See the levels of play and divisions page for information about the age levels and divisions available.
Is it possible to have my child try ringette before registering?
Yes! We have "Come Try Ringette" sessions throughout the year. Check out the come try ringette page for details.
What are try outs and does my child have to try out for ringette?
Try outs occur each fall if a child (10 years old and up), wishes to play in the A / AA teams. Tryouts are not required to play on the B teams. See the levels of play and divisions page for more details.
My child is not a strong skater, can they still play ringette?
Yes! All players are welcome and can develop their skating skills throughout the season via practices and in game action. Teams for players 10 years old and younger provide skills and development sessions. Players 11 years old and older can register for power skating sessions offered throughout the season as ice time is available. Power skating is optional and requires a separate fee per session.
Does my child need special equipment to play Ringette?
The only differences between hockey equipment and Ringette equipment is the stick and facemask. See the Equipment page for more details.
For players 10 years old and younger, we offer an Equipment Loan Program to allow younger players the ability to try the game without investing in all new equipment. See our Equipment Loan Program page for details.

Are there other costs after I pay my registration fee?
Some teams choose to participate in ringette tournaments and other activities throughout the season. These activities aren't covered by the RAB registration fee. Once teams are formed, the head coach typically recommends which tournament/activities the team will do. These are funded through fundraising activities and/or parent contributions.

How do I show I completed the Respect in Sport Parent Program?
Ringette Ontario requires one parent of every ringette player under the age of 18 to take the Respect in Sport Parent Program. Once parents complete their training, they are required to update their own RAMP profile and submit their Respect in Sport certificate.
To do so, follow these instructions:
1. Log into the parent RAMP registration system by going to Registration Info > RAMP registration System or following this link: https://www.rampregistrations.com/login?v3=5b0853a710
2. Select the "My Family Members" option along the left hand side of the screen and select their name
3. Click "Edit" profile
4. Insert the "Respect in Sport Parent Certificate #"
5. Click "Submit" at the bottom of the page
The Respect in Sport Parent Program is a one-hour online module for parents/guardians, reiterating their role in their child's activities, encouraging positive sports behaviours, and provides insight into the various roles other individuals play, such as coaches and officials.

I'm registering for a ringette camp. Where do I find my RAMP number?
Log into the RAMP registration system found here: https://www.rampregistrations.com/login?v3=5b0853a710.
Once there, go to "my family members" in the left hand menu. The RAMP ID will be displayed under your player's name.
